

The Labs
All TARA facilities share access to several wide area network resources including route diverse, high-speed, Internet links, through direct 100Meg Fibre connection to the Halifax GigaPOP and thereby connectivity to Canada's Next Generation High Speed Research Network - CA*net4, High Speed Cableco as well as private Fibre Optic and Copper links to several strategic partners and the outside world.

TARA's Internetworking Lab contains an extensive complement of Cisco Internetworking Products housing about 60 Cisco Routers and Switches and a complete Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice Video and Integrated Data) VoIP communications platform. The lab also contains Authentication and Web Servers available for member use.
On-site use or secure remote access is available to Members. The lab can be used for practice, training, configuration setup testing, interoperability testing and performance verification activities.

The Telephony Lab with DMS-100 SuperNode switch providing Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN), SS7, CTI and VoIP test beds. It also includes a suite of Call Centre, Unified Messaging and Voice Recognition servers. Test / measurement equipment and load generator tools can be provided on request. This lab also houses VOIP soft-switches from Mitel, IP Tel-org and Asterisk (SIP).
TARA has the distinct advantage of being the only private facility in the world to house a DMS-100 available to entrepreneurial companies for research and development. This lab enables companies to test new applications, services and features in a controlled, non-production environment.
